Graveyard Keeper 2 Battles

Updated 2026-10-09 · Searched as “graveyard keeper 2 battles”

Short answer

Graveyard Keeper 2 has 17 battles. Most can only be started on Sloth; Break Through to the Port, Sewer Brawl I and II, Break Through to the Bathhouse Basement and the Sewerena start on any day. Each battle sets a minimum defense power (DP) and a maximum number of squads. You win by capturing every enemy flag and still holding them all when the waves end — the four flagless fights are won by holding your base.

Armed units fight around wooden barricades and medieval houses, with health bars above them.

Which day you can fight

Sloth is battle day. Outside the five any-day battles, the start option only appears on Sloth.

There is one exception early on: when Herbert hands you the red banner before the first battle, battles stay open on any day until the end of the next Sloth.

The Calendar guide lists what every other day of the six-day week is for.

Why a battle will not start

It is not Sloth, and this is not one of the any-day battles or the post-banner window.

There is no sword or no body armor in the Keeper's tool belt — both are required, even if you plan to stay behind the barricades.

The Keeper is wearing more than one item on the head.

Total defense power is below the battle's requirement.

Defense power, explained

The number next to the sword icon is the sum of the barricades and archer towers built at the Barracks plus the squads you bring.

Each barricade or tower adds 2, 4 or 6 DP by tier — except in Sewer Brawl I and II, where they do not count.

A squad zombie adds the DP of its weapon and its armor: a Simple Bow or Simple Pike is +1, a Battle Bow or Battle Pike +2, a Heavy Bow or Knight's Spear +3, and armor from +0 (Rusty) to +4 (Master).

Hired mercenaries add 8 DP as a squad, or 16 and 24 after the Merc Leader's two upgrades — see our Barracks guide.

The district battles

Break Through to the Port — 1 squad, 12 DP. Pays a Defender's Emblem, 6 Zombie goo and 8 Town Gratitude.

Eastern Districts: Active Scouting — 1 squad, 12 DP, Defender's Emblem. Eastern Districts Purge — 2 squads, 20 DP, Victory Banner.

Market Square Purge — 2 squads, 22 DP, no flags: hold the base until the waves end.

Central Districts Purge: Part I — 2 squads, 36 DP, Defender's Emblem. Part II — 3 squads, 56 DP, Victory Banner.

Floodgates, the lake and Operation POTATO

Closing the Western Floodgate — 3 squads, 56 DP. Closing the Eastern Floodgate: Part I — 3 squads, 80 DP; Part II follows it.

Battle at the Lake — 3 squads, 64 DP. Operation POTATO: Part I — 3 squads, 72 DP; Part II follows it and has no flags.

Each of these pays 10 Zombie goo and 16 Town Gratitude.

The late game and the sewers

Break Through to the Bathhouse Basement — 3 squads, 88 DP. It pays 3 Keys for Looters, a Victory Banner, a Defender's Emblem and 4 goo.

Final Battle — 4 squads, 144 DP, no flags. It belongs to the quest The Last Battle.

Sewer Brawl I (1 squad, 8 DP) and Sewer Brawl II (2 squads, 24 DP) each pay 3 Keys for Looters.

The Sewerena runs 7 arena rounds from 36 to 116 DP and 2 to 4 squads. Each round has no flags, and winning one opens the next.

What winning pays

Every zombie that fought in your squads earns red tech points for its own talent trees — mercenaries get none. In the Sewerena that is 75 to 150 per zombie per round.

Defender's Emblems unlock Barracks squad slots, up to 4. Victory Banners come from Eastern Districts Purge, Central Districts Purge: Part II and the Bathhouse Basement.

Keys for Looters buy orders from Davy the Dagger — our looters guide shows what each order holds.
