Release timing on PlayStation
The PS5 version launches the same day as every other platform, September 22, 2026.
PlayStation's own product page lists the unlock moment as 05:00 PM UTC on release day, the most precise timing published by any storefront.
There is no separate PlayStation exclusivity window or delay.
Price and PS Plus
The game is priced at $24.99 across platforms, discounted by 20% to around $20 during pre-orders.
Press coverage of the pre-order period reported that PlayStation Plus subscribers were offered a further 20% off, taking it to roughly $16.
Pre-ordering grants the same two bonuses as other platforms: a personal sauna outside your house and an exclusive outfit.
What the PlayStation listing confirms
The store page lists the game as 1 player and supports offline play, which settles the frequent question about co-op on console: there is none.
It also lists DualSense vibration support, so the controller's haptics are used.
The listing carries an ESRB Teen rating, and both pre-order items are itemised there.
The demo on PS5
PlayStation was included in the free demo rollout on September 14, alongside Steam, Xbox and Nintendo.
The demo is roughly 3–4 hours, covering the opening up to the introduction of The Town.
Your demo save carries into the full game, provided you buy it on the same platform you played the demo on.
How it plays on a controller
The game ships with full controller support on Steam as well, so the console builds are not a compromise layout.
For combat specifically, the developers noted that mouse-and-keyboard players can control battles one-handed — a hint at how light the input demands are.
On PS5 that same combat runs through squad positioning and direct melee or bow attacks rather than complex input strings.
Which platform to pick
Feature-wise the versions are the same game at the same price on the same day, so the decision is mostly about where you want the save to live.
Remember that demo progress only transfers within the same platform ecosystem, so play the demo where you intend to buy.
If you want the outfit bonus in a particular style, note that the outfit differs by platform — that is the one genuine content difference the developers have described.
What you are buying
The PS5 version is the complete game — not an early access build and not a timed trial.
It ships with the full Town rebuild arc, zombie automation and the weekly battle loop.
Eleven languages cover interface and subtitles, with English the only full voice track.
As a single-player title with offline play, none of its content depends on servers staying online.
Using the demo to start early
Download the demo on PS5 and your progress becomes the opening of your real save once you buy.
The most valuable demo activities are the compounding ones: clearing yard junk for Bronze Nails and Scrap, and building the Wooden Anvil.
Follow the main story to the locked hatch in your house and speak to the Plague Doctor to obtain your first zombie workers.
Just remember the transfer is platform-bound, so play it on PS5 if PS5 is where you intend to buy.
Things PlayStation players ask about
There is no co-op or online mode; the store listing says 1 player and the Steam feature list agrees.
There are no redemption codes — pre-order bonuses attach to your PlayStation account automatically.
The pre-order outfit is platform-specific, so the PS5 version's cosmetic differs from other stores.
Console mods are not a thing here either: mods for this game are distributed through Nexus Mods on PC.
How the game is reviewing
Critics landed at a Metascore of 71 across seven reviews, with a fairly even split between positive and mixed verdicts.
DualShockers scored it 85 and praised the storytelling, while Shacknews at 70 described the gameplay as deliberately tedious.
The free demo, by contrast, sat at 88% positive from 526 Steam user reviews during launch week.
If you are undecided, the demo on your own console is a cheaper test than any score.
What kind of game to expect
This is a management-heavy crafting RPG rather than an action game, even with the new combat layer.
Your week revolves around graveyard work, production, a weekly sermon and a weekly city battle.
Corpse quality, scored as white skulls minus red, drives burial rating and feeds your zombie workforce.
Automation is the relief valve: zombies take over gathering and crafting once equipped with tools.

Before you pre-order
Check whether the PS Plus discount is still active on your account, since it stacked with the pre-order discount at launch.
Confirm you are happy for the save to live on PlayStation, because demo progress does not migrate across ecosystems.
Remember the bonuses are a Sauna building and an outfit, with no code to enter.
And note the game launches complete rather than in early access, so there is no cheaper early tier to wait for.
Where to follow updates
The PlayStation Store page is authoritative for price, date and edition details on console.
The developers publish devlogs and announcements through Steam, which is where the combat and town details were first detailed.
Those posts are also where post-launch improvements would be announced.
Anything not traceable to those channels should be treated as unverified.
Worth knowing before your first session
Unlock wood processing first, then pottery for fishing — those two gate most of the early game.
Watch the ZZZ icon and sleep when it appears, because working while exhausted spikes insanity fast.
Break trash piles and broken barrels with an axe for Bronze Nails, Bronze Scrap and Boards.
And build the Wooden Anvil early, since it turns scrap into six nails apiece for a single log and a stone.
