Graveyard Keeper 2 Beehive, Honey & Beeswax

Updated 2026-09-29 · Searched as “graveyard keeper 2 beehive”

Short answer

Research Beekeeping (50 green, after Garden Improvement I), open the Vineyard west of your house and build Beehives there for 2 Wooden Plank, 1 Bronze Detail and 6 Bronze Nails. Each harvest gives 3–6 Honey and 1–2 Beeswax with Farming mastery 3, and the hive refills in about 8 minutes. Wild hives give 1–2 Honey and only a 25% chance of wax.

Vegetable plots, outdoor workstations and a red-roofed home surround the keeper's garden.

Why you need beeswax

Every church candle is made from it: a Simple Candle takes 2 Beeswax, a Pretty Candle 3 and a Magnificent Candle 4.

The Simple Candle is also what Larry wants before the Old Mine opens, so wax is on the critical path early.

No trader sells Beeswax, so hives are the only reliable source.

Wild beehives first

There are four wild hives on the map, including one around your base. They give 1 or 2 Honey per harvest.

Each harvest has only a 25% chance of a piece of Beeswax, so they are fine for a first candle and too slow for anything more.

Open the Vineyard

Built hives go in the Vineyard, a farming area west of your house.

One guide lists the bridge repair as 4 Wooden Plank, 1 Polished Bronze and 4 Pieces of Stone with Building mastery 2 — see our Polished Bronze guide for that part.

Research Beekeeping

Beekeeping is a Farming technology costing 50 green tech points. It needs Garden Improvement I (30 green) first.

It leads on to Mead Making (80 green), which turns Honey into mead at the Brewing Stand.

Build cost and yield

A Beehive costs 2 Wooden Plank, 1 Bronze Detail and 6 Bronze Nails.

Harvesting needs Farming mastery 3 and gives 3 to 6 Honey, 1 or 2 Beeswax and 2 green tech points.

The hive is full again about 8 minutes after you empty it, so a row of hives covers a week of candles easily.

Can zombies harvest hives?

Not directly — guides report you cannot put a zombie on a hive; harvesting stays a keeper job.

The Vineyard's Porter Station can carry the honey down to the cellar once you collect it.

Study beeswax for tech points

Beeswax is a strong study item: +30 red, +40 green and +10 blue tech points for 3 Science and 5 Faith.

It carries 1 red and 2 green runes and appears in alchemy formulas such as Alkali and the Philosopher Stone.
